Conservation of the Red Siskin, Guyana

Introduction: This project will raise environmental consciousness about the Endangered Red Siskin (Carduelis cucullata), under pressure from the pet trade as it is a popular cage species. The project is also monitoring the Red Siskin population through surveys and color banding.

Objective: To protect the Endangered Red Siskin from the pet trade.

Actions:
1. Assist schools with materials.
2. Assist Red Siskin population monitoring.

Accomplishments:
1. Materials were purchased and given to schools.
2. Equipment has been provided to field workers for monitoring.
