Domestic Partenrships
Forming, nurturing, and participating in partnerships is central to the mission of the domestic habitat program of American Bird Conservancy, as it is to many of our other conservation programs. Partnerships can:
- Allow the various partners to thrive within their area of expertise without each one having to become generalists in the totality of bird conservation. For example, ABC can excel in science while a state wildlife agency can excel at spending public funds to use that science to accomplish on-the-ground conservation objectives.
- Give ABC the opportunity to influence the philosophy and application of other partners. One of the achievements of which we are most proud has been the steady conversion of government conservation agencies from game management organizations to agencies deeply devoted to the cooperative conservation of non-game birds.
- Encourage atmospheres in which partners can work together to develop shared conservation visions.
- Leverage resources, not only from the partners themselves, but also from funding entities that react positively to cooperative effort and shared resources.
